Overview

The Haloplane is an electronic instrument that produces sound through seven electromagnetic fields indicated by dots on the instrument's surface.

The instrument is played by moving the two electromagnetic pickups nearer or further from any of the fields. The fields are organized into a pattern of two rows. Because their electromagnetic fields overlap, clusters of different sounds can be heard when the player's pickup is placed in between multiple fields.

Each field can be reconfigured and manipulated to produce different sounds. Fields are selected using their corresponding selection buttons on the top left — once selected, their parameters can be changed.

The fields' sound, pitch, length, position, and LFO modulation can all be captured and recalled together as presets using the SAVE and LOAD buttons.

The sound of the instrument can be further altered using the filter and audio effects.

Block Diagram

The Haloplane consists of two separate sections that are electrically disconnected: the pickup interface and the field surface. The pickups let the player listen to fields emitted by the surface. You can record or design sounds for the instrument's seven fields. The pickups' sound passes through a signal chain including an envelope follower, a filter, and effects.
