Envelope Follower

toggle edit mode button on the Haloplane

An envelope follower is a dynamic processor that tracks the amplitude envelope of an audio input to generate a control signal.

On the Haloplane, the jack marked ENV. outputs a changing voltage based on the signals detected by the two pickup coils. This output generally correlates with the pickups' proximity to the surface of the Haloplane. The attack and release of the envelope are roughly 250ms.

The envelope follower’s output voltage range is 0–5 V. By default, the envelope consists of the summed envelope of both pickups, but it can be reconfigured to output the envelope of each pickup independently (see Modulation Output Modes).

This control signal can be routed through a patch cable to modulate other parameters on the instrument, offering creative possibilities like dynamic filtering, effect, rotation, position, and length modulation.
